Mouthpiece of Creole community marks its new publication going to print with a well-attended community occasion.
Kreol Magazine ensured that the hotly anticipated release of its 18th issue was given the fanfare it deserves by holding a signing event which starred many of the individuals featured in the publication and which enjoyed support from the local community.
The signing took place on Saturday 28th January at Lafayette Gardens in Lafayette, Louisiana, and was well received by all those who took part. Kreol Magazine has announced that the event photos are available now on the website at http://www.kreolmagazine.com/.
Xavier Paul, the creole baseball star featured in the magazine, made an appearance. The former LA Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds outfielder and his brother Matthew are the subject of a new feature in the magazine, which looks at their family background, their rise to stardom in baseball, and their views on life and career progression in general.
Vanessa Lewis, whose recipes were featured in the issue, certainly made her presence felt at the event, cooking up a fabulous feast for guests including gumbo, beef stew, desserts and cupcakes.
Kreol Magazine sponsored all the food and drinks laid on, and the entertainment provided included cooking demonstrations for guests. Keeping the atmosphere jovial was stand-up comic Jerrod Guillory, while there were also performances from Grand Marias & Indian Mardi Gras Krewes.
The event was a tremendous coming together of the community, allowing readers of Kreol Magazine to meet and engage with some of the personalities who they will read about in the magazine. Members of staff at the publication also had the chance to meet readers and listen to their valued feedback on the magazine.
Georgina Dhillon, Editor & Publisher of Kreol Magazine, said:
“Nothing brings to life a print edition more than an event which allows readers to meet the individuals we cover within its pages. The 18th issue is one we are very excited about, being the culmination of some brilliant interviews and research from our writers. We were very excited to give readers the chance to interact and strike up new friendships. We would also like to both congratulate the individuals featured in the 18th issue and thank them for their participation in the signing, as well as all of our cherished readership who came to the event.”
