Prep:  15 minutes,  Cooking time:  15 minutes,  Serves: 1-2

What you will need

  • 2 cans of chick peas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tbs oil
  • 1/4 tsp whole cumin seeds.
  • 1 medium size onion, very finely chopped
  • 1 tbs ginger & garlic paste.
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder.
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp chana masala powder.
  • 1 cup hot water
  • green coriander and green chillies for garnish.

Now Get Cooking

  1. Heat 2 tbs oil
  2. Add 1/4 tsp whole cumin seeds, fry a minute.
  3. Add 1 chopped onion and brown it slowly.
  4. Add 1 tbs ginger garlic paste and continue cooking till aromatic.
  5. Add tomatoes and stir.
  6. When oil surfaces add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp red chilli powder.
  7. Stir on low flame.
  8. Add 1 tsp coriander powder
  9. Finally add the chick peas. Stir on high flame for a minute.
  10. Add 1 tsp chana masala powder.
  11. Lower the flame and add 1 cup of hot water
  12. Simmer for 10 mins.
  13. Garnish with green coriander and green chillies.
  14. Serve with hot pitta bread.
